Samoa proved last night that the impossible was possible.
And the 16th Pacific Games was rightly dubbed the miracle games.
With fewer than two years to prepare after Tonga officially withdrew from hosting, Samoa pulled off a show that left everyone Samoan feeling proud and humble at the same time.

What made it even more special was the rain and thunderstorm that started after 2pm yesterday all ceased at least an hour before the official opening at 6.30pm.

GAMES FACTS
Meanwhile the Pacific Games council confirmed that 5,000 athletes and team officials will be participating in Samoa over the next two weeks, making it the biggest Games.
The Samoa 2019 XVI Pacific Games is staging 27 sports and hosting athletes from 24 countries
