The wait is finally over for Team Fiji archery couple Frederick and Lisa Leota after winning gold in the team compound discipline at Faleata yesterday.
Earlier in the day Frederick won gold in the men’s individual 50m compound event while his wife Lisa won silver in the women’s individual 50m compound event.
The couple teamed up for the compound team event and battled for the gold medal playoff against New Caledonia.

It was down to the last arrow where Frederick lad hit a 10-mark which awarded them the gold medal. At the end of the four arrow scores Fiji came out victorious beating New Caledonia 143-141.
Frederick said their secret recipe was teamwork and encouraging each other on the pitch.
“Lisa and I we waited so long for this and teamwork awarded us the victory today. We are couple and we support each other and motivate one another.
“It’s a proud moment for us to make my country of birth Fiji proud, we just live the moment, for the team event it was down to the last arrow.
“It’s a huge bonus for us and this is something Lisa and I were talking about for a while and for us to come away with a win is a huge achievement,” he added.
“I want to dedicate this win to my friends and families.”

SILVER FOR ELDER
Robert Elder won silver medal in the men’s match play individual 70m recurve.
Team archery collected two gold and two silver medals yesterday.
