Namosi Secondary School is adamant of a positive outcome in their long distance events at the 2019 Coca-Cola Games, which begins at the ANZ Stadium in Suva today.

The school is banking on its 1500m, 800m and 3000m runners to win medals in this year’s Fiji finals.

Coach Anasa Radamanu strongly believes they will get a gold medal in the 800m event. Last year the school won their lone gold in the junior boys 800m, which was won by Pio Rauwa. Pio is back this year for his first Intermediate boy’s event.

Pio is a favourite in the Intermediate boy’s 800m final tomorrow.

The school was faced with many challenges in their preparation this year, one of which was the unfavourable weather, where the athletes had to train on muddy grounds.

The constant rainy weather in Namosi left the team to train daily without proper training shoes.

Despite their challenges the school believes it will achieve positive results which would boost morale.

“The school is in high spirits and this year we have only brought in 19 potential medal athletes and we look forward to their results.”

Last year the school won one gold, one silver and one bronze in the Coca- Cola Games.
