The Fiji Airways Fijiana women’s rugby sevens team booked a spot in the Hong Kong Sevens Cup quarterfinal after beating Ireland 21-5 in their final pool match this afternoon.

The Reijeli Daveua-captained side led 7-0 at halftime with a try to Vani Buleki after 30 seconds of the match with Ana Maria Naimasi landing the conversion.

Buleki dotted down her second try at the resumption of the second half with Naimasi adding the extras.

Ireland pulled a try back, which was not converted to trail 14-5.

Then veteran Aloesi Nakoci from a bustling run set-up Daveua to beat the final defender before popping a pass to Meredani Qoro to score under the post. She converted her try for the 21-5 win.
