The Vodafone Deans Trophy national quarterfinals is next stop for the Nasinu Secondary School Under-15 rugby side.

They beat Suva Grammar School 22-19 in extra time of the Southern Zone semifinal at the SGS ground yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports manager Anaseini Waqabaca said the team had to dig deep during the game.

“We didn’t prepare well this week and were shocked to be advised that we will play today,” she said.

“Without wasting time we marched into camp on Monday just to prepare the boys for this game.

“During the two-day preparations we talked about what we wanted to achieve.

“When things were tough I reminded the boys during halftime and extra time break to remember our primary goals.

“It was a tough game but hats off to the boys for their determination and hard work.

“The boys scored early but Suva Grammar kept fighting back.”

Waqabaca said they would rest for three days before the finals next week.

She added that playing against Marist Brothers High School U15 side would not be easy.

“Marist is a very good team so we will go back and regroup.

“There are lot of things that we need to work on before we return for the final.

“The players understand how important it is to recover and rest before we continue.

“We thank the students of NSS, parents, families and friends who continue to support us.”
