Showcasing talent beyond disabilities at this year’s Coca-Cola Games

Showcasing their talents despite disabilities, the Fiji Vocational, Technical and Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities athletics team is set to make its debut at the Fiji Finals, also known as the Coca-Cola Games.
Team manager Kemueli Musunamasi said preparations had gone well, with athletes ready to compete on the national stage.
“Our preparations have been on track, and we are here with our athletes that will be participating in the long jump and shot put,” he said.

Musunamasi acknowledged the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association for the opportunity.
“I thank the organisers of the Coca-Cola Games committee for inviting us this year to join the competition,” he said.
A total of 15 athletes will represent the centre, competing in three events — long jump, sitting shot put for wheelchair users, and standing shot put for physically impaired athletes.
“With those 15 athletes we will fielding three events which is long jump, sitting shot put (for our wheelchair users) and standing shot put (physical impaired users),” he said.
For the team, the focus is on participation and experience.
“We're here to showcase our athlete's talents.”
Musunamasi said he hoped this would be the start of continued participation in future Games and encouraged supporters to come out in numbers to back the athletes.
