We can still win, says teen captain

Iconic Redz women’s team are aiming to bounce back and win the Vodafone Cup’s National Basketball Club Championship (NBCC)

Team captain and point guard Lynn Catanaivalu, 16, told SUNsports yesterday they are aiming to reach the play offs.

“We are aiming to win all our games and to reach the finals,” she said.

Catanaivalu said they are looking forward to their next game.

She said preparations were tough, since most of their players are students.

“We had our training sessions and preparations from the last month and some of us are students but we managed to balanced our school work and basketball training,” she said.

Catanaivalu said they would need to improve on their set place and defence before their last pool game against Blaze in order to qualify.

“We won our first game against Kaunikuila Aces but we lost to Zodiac Wyverns in our second game. We started well but in our second game we made a lot of mistakes. We are aiming to improve,” she said.

Catanaivalu has acknowledged their supporters for their tireless support towards the team.
