Zodiac Rams opened their Vodafone National Basketball Championship campaign with a 41-19 win over Wolves at the FMF Gymnasium, Suva, yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Rams captain and shooting guard John Tabuaniviti Mar said they were excited with their first win and are looking forward to continue on their winning run.

"I thank the man above for giving us the strength and the power to be able to win our first game," he said.

Mar said they are aiming to continue on that momentum as the tournament progresses.

"We had a tough preparation for the Vodafone National Basketball Championship. We had to overcome lots of challenges, injuries, and most of our teammates came from overseas," he said.

Mar said despite the big win there are areas they need to improve on.

"We need to improve on our defence. We will review this game and learn from our mistakes."

He said like any other team they are aiming to win the championship.

Mar has urged their supporters to come out in numbers to cheer them on.

The competition continues today.
