Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru has confirmed that the term of all current members of the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) board has ended.
The board was elected in July 2023, with Adi Narayan as chairman after taking over from Dr Subbash Appanna.
Other members included are Eroni Loganimoce, Visila Koliqaruqaru, Gyan Singh and Rahul Pillay.
Their three-year term ended on July 31, 2026, after overseeing professional boxing in Fiji.
Saukuru said the ministry began the process of selecting a new board in March, four months before the current board’s term ended.
“It is not only the chairman, but the entire board's term has expired, he said.
Before I was dismissed, we had sent out an advertisement for people who may wish to be part of a new board.
He said the ministry's sports unit was handling the applications, and he had yet to receive an update.
“Our sports unit has received the expressions of interest. They will compile them, shortlist the applicants and forward the names to me.
“I will then see who applied for which position on the board and sort everything out.”
Saukuru said the selection process was expected to be completed early next month.
