The new Netball Fiji constitution which was passed in last Saturday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be effective from next year.
It was voted unanimously at the Outrigger Fiji Resort, Sigatoka, where the 32 attendees included affiliates and observers.
One of the major changes is the implementation of a seven-member management board instead of the current 12 executive committee members who were eligible to vote during the AGM.
These directors will be determined via expression of interest and nomination. The latter voted on by members.
A transition committee will be responsible for the shift. Netball Fiji was given a clean audit by its auditors HLB Mann Judd Fiji.
The constitution was the result of extensive work undertaken by a specially comprised governance working group of 13 members which included the Netball
Fiji president RubyAnn Sorovaki andvice president administration Kitione Waqavonovono and presidents of Suva, Nasinu, Tailevu, Fiji Secondary Schools, Nadroga, Lautoka and a representative from Bua.
Fiji National Sports Commission chief executive officer Peter Mazey was an advisor to the group. The other major restructure is the dividing of associations into three zones - Central, Western and Northern.
All districts will be grouped into their appropriate zones where zone will manage themselves in terms of development, working with Netball Fiji.
Each zone will nominate one member of the board and a netball director; these positions will be voted on at the AGM.
