“We are a young side. Hope the Drua boys can play once again, but those who will wear the jumper are capable of doing what is expected from them.”

The Nadi senior men’s team is likely to play without captain Peniona Vuki in Saturday’s Skipper Cup quarterfinal match against Suva.

Vuki sustained an injury during their match against Suva in the final round last Saturday.

Nadi Rugby Union vice president Jeff Tamata said the medics are working around the clock for the recovery of the police officer.

He added that the side will take on the challenge to face the capital city side at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

“We are going as underdogs and Suva is the team to beat, but we will take our chances,” Tamata said.

“We had a lot of work-ons from that. A lot of learning.

“Suva is a champion side, but anything can happen on game day.”

He added having the game in Sugar City would be an advantage for their home fans.

“We are a young side. Hope the Drua boys can play once again, but those who will wear the jumper are capable of doing what is expected from them.”

Lautoka face Tailevu in the first quarter-final at 1pm while Suva and Nadi will play at 3pm.

Meanwhile when asked about the quarterfinal venue, Fiji Rugby Union general manager operations and development Sale Sorovaki said they were supposed to confirm venues yesterday.

“There is a shortage of grounds at the moment and we’re trying our best to manage it with the teams concerned.”
