Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s forward Tira Welagi Patterson has recovered from injury and is back training with the squad at Suva’s Albert Park on Tuesday.

Patterson injured his knee at the Perth 7s tournament and missed out on the Vancouver and New York leg of HSBC SVNS Series.

Speaking to SUNsports, the robust prop said he has made good progress in his recovery and is excited to be back with the team.

Patterson said that despite being injured, he was determined to rejoin the training squad.

He added that the team’s preparations for the Hong Kong tournament had been going well with a lot of new talents in the squad.

“We are all fighting for a spot to represent the team at the Hong Kong 7s. There are many forwards and utility players.”

Patterson said that once a player boards the Hong Kong flight, they could be assured of their selection, but until then, everyone has to work hard to be part of the team.
