Fiji on high alert for Ebola despite no local cases
Travellers from Ebola-affected areas denied entry while Fiji remains virus-free.

Fiji remains free of Ebola, but the Ministry of Health and Medical Services says it is on high alert as the deadly virus continues to spread overseas.
Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa said surveillance teams have been activated and remain on standby at the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and ministry level.
"They have been activated and on standby, watching closely our border area," he said.

Mr Ravunawa said some travellers had already been denied entry to Fiji after travelling through Ebola-affected areas.
"There have been some people that have been denied travel to Fiji because they've come through that particular area where the Ebola virus is thriving.
"The surveillance team is on watch and we are ready to try to see that we don't get the virus into our country."
Mr Ravunawa confirmed there were no confirmed Ebola cases in Fiji.
The ministry remains vigilant as the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has claimed more than 1,500 lives.
