Bus Operators Raise Concerns With PM’s Office Officials

A group of bus operators met offi­cials in the Prime Minister’s Of­fice yesterday to raise their con­cerns about the Vodafone eTransport system.

Representatives of the group remained tightlipped after the meeting, but could only say that they had concerns about the system and the fact that a year after its introduction operators was still hav­ing problems with it.

One particular problem was the tech­nical issues faced such as differences in card balances when they are swiped on buses and the refund of unused money under the eticketing card and the use of disposable cards.

A representative of one particular op­erator, which operates services through­out Viti Levu, said the company had to cut back the number of trips it ran daily because of issues with the eticketing sys­tem and payments.

Vodafone representatives were not at the meeting.
