A security guard and his two young sons were left traumatised after being allegedly threatened by seven men who climbed over a fence at Millers Wharf in Walu Bay, Suva, and stole a safe.
The guard’s wife said the men locked her husband inside the security booth before stealing a safe from the SeaLand Company premises on Rona Street.
“He told them not to harm him because his sons was with him and they were sleeping there,” she said, recounting what her husband told her.

The incident occurred shortly after 2am yesterday while the guard was conducting patrols and writing reports.
“He was noting down his report when they came,” she said.
She alleged that seven men entered the premises while two others waited in a fibreglass boat.
The safe was then loaded onto the boat before the group fled.
The wife said both her husband and their sons were traumatised by the incident.
“He’s scared, and my sons was also there at the scene. They were afraid,” she said.
She urged those involved in criminal activity to reconsider their actions.
“It’s better to work honestly and earn money through hard work rather than stealing and harming others,” she said.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed yesterday that one man was in custody and that the search was continuing for his alleged accomplices. Investigations are ongoing.
When the Fiji Sun visited the scene this morning, police officers were seen entering the area while security personnel prevented media access to the premises.
