Online Scam Targets Brijlal Fiji Customers

A local retailer has urged customers to be more vigilant when purchasing items online, following reports that credit card details have been shared with scammers.
This warning comes after fake Facebook pages bearing the Brijlal Fiji name and logo were circulated online, targeting Fijian customers.
One such page, titled “exclusive offer,” falsely advertised JBL gift boxes using Brijlal Fiji’s branding.

A search on Meta’s Ad Library revealed that the fake page was created on August 7, 2025.
Brijlal Fiji director Diren Kapadia confirmed that the company does not sell JBL headphones or speakers, only JBL earphones.
“These scammers are advertising products that basically we don’t even sell,” Mr Kapadia said.
He explained that the scammers used the company’s name and logo to lure customers into providing their credit card information.
He said some customers have fallen victim and provided their credit card details.
“We did receive some reports and messages that they didn’t receive the item or their credit card was used and more payments were processed through the credit card as well.
“We ask customers, please check, we have only one Facebook page and if you go on the about information, you will find information there that this is Brijlal Fiji, which is our official Facebook page, anything else is not us.”
This is the second time scammers have created fake Brijlal Fiji Facebook pages and websites.

The fake page directed customers to a fake website, with a message “Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in the Brijlal campaign. You have a chance to win an HP laptop.”
“They want you to click on their link and provide your credit card details to get this laptop and some people have provided their credit card details but then they don’t get the laptop.
“One thing we’d like to just tell people, if you think some of these deals are just too good to be true, like a laptop for $5, it probably isn’t true.
“Nobody in their right mind is going to sell a phone for $5 or a laptop for $5.”

The official Brijlal Fiji Facebook page, created on January 12, 2018, has over 150,000 followers and is managed by two admins in Fiji and one in Australia.
Mr Kapadia also confirmed that Brijlal Fiji’s official website is verified, and encouraged customers to use it for genuine products and pricing.
The company has issued an advisory on its official Facebook page, warning customers to be cautious of fake Brijlal Fiji pages and website links.
