Six-year-old dies in Noco road crash
A six-year-old boy has tragically died after a vehicle allegedly driven by a drunk driver veered off the road near Nabitu Junction on Saturday morning, raising Fiji’s road death toll to 10 this year.

A six-year-old child has tragically lost his life following a motor vehicle accident along Noco Road in Rewa yesterday morning.
In a media statement, police said that the child had accompanied his father to buy bread and was later offered a ride home by a 29-year-old driver.
It is alleged that while approaching the Nabitu Junction, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road.

The child sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Wainibokasi Hospital, where medical officials later confirmed his death.
The driver was taken into police custody as he was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
The child’s father and another passenger were not injured in the accident.
The national road death toll now stands at 10, compared to three during the same period last year. Police investigations are continuing.
Authorities are again urging motorists to act responsibly, reminding the public that drinking and driving can have devastating consequences for families and communities.
