Interviews to find the next Tourism Fiji chief executive officer are underway.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka told this masthead today that several "quality candidates" have been interviewed.

He said that the next CEO must possess experience, proven leadership, and strong marketing expertise.

The new appointee could be named by the end of this month, he added. They will replace outgoing CEO Brent Hill after four years in the role.

Tourism Fiji had announced back in June that Mr Hill would be stepping down from his role and returning permanently to Australia with his growing family at the end of this month.

Mr Hill's departure also coincides with the resignation of Fiji Airways managing director and CEO, Andre Viljoen, who will leave his post in October.
