Tui Cakau urges Taveuni villages to expel drug offenders

President and Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has called on communities in Taveuni to unite against drugs, saying anyone involved in illegal drug activities should be removed from their village regardless of family ties or friendships.
Speaking on the issue, the President said he was unaware of the scale of white substances or other illicit drugs on Taveuni, but stressed that communities must take a firm stand against those involved.
"If anyone is found to be involved in drug-related activities, they should be removed from the village. This applies regardless of whether the person is your brother, relative, or friend," he said.

He warned that drug-related activities could destroy families and jeopardise the future of children, saying such behaviour should never be ignored.
The President also called on village leaders, families and residents to work together to address drug-related concerns and maintain safe communities.
He reminded communities to be mindful of visitors and guests, ensuring they respected local values and the law.
President Lalabalavu said a safe and secure Taveuni could only be achieved when everyone played their part in promoting communities free from drugs and other harmful activities.
