If you’re among the 95 per cent of Fijians who watched the Skipper Cup clash at Thomson Park, Navua, last Saturday, you would see that Namosi is one of the dangerous rugby teams in the country.

These were the words of Namosi rugby coach Maxwell Hughes after their 29-27 win over Ba.

“We dropped our game this week compared to last week against Naitasiri,” Hughes told SUNsports.

“We allowed Ba to run in three tries in the first half, which shouldn’t have happened.”

He said after halftime they were able to run in four tries to deny Ba the win.

“We lost our concentration during the game but we will work on it next week.”

Hughes said that the major improvement in the team was the ability to execute their chances and possession.

“We are also grateful for the support from the people and the Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua.

“His presence really made an impact to the players,” he said.

Hughes said they were grateful to see Ratu Suliano as they presented their i-sevusevu to him.

He added that even though it was a tough match, they were able to hold their ground coming into the last quarter of the game.

We will go back and work on our reaction time as the game against Ba, we were too slow to react which cost us four tries.

“Namosi is the most dangerous team in this competition. We have small players but when they want to score, they will.”

Namosi faces Yasawa in their next Skipper Cup match.

Hughes said that they would not take Yasawa lightly as all teams are a threat.

“The game against Yasawa is a must-win match as we want to remain in the competition.

“No one wants to lose so we will look at a good outing in Lautoka this week,” he said.
