Darwin Fijians Host Team Fiji

Members of team Fiji were hosted to a welcoming tradi­tional dinner by members of the Darwin Fijian Com­munity on Sunday night.

Speaking to SUNsports from Darwin, Fijian com­munity rep Lavenia Vatei­tei said: “The Darwin Fiji­an Community held a little welcoming ceremony for our Fiji Beach Volleyball team and our Para-Olympic Team.

“Unfortunately the net­ball team couldn’t make it.”

Meanwhile Iosefo Rakesa won Fiji’s first medal.

He got bronze in the Open men’s javelin while Eng­land-based Fijian Derek Derenalagi won silver in the F57 Shot put.

Derenalagi a renowned Paralaympics athlete set­tled for silver with a throw.
