Kiwi Duo Wins Bula Reunion Golf

Tauranga (New Zealand) duo Cheryl Col­lier and Marietta Duffy-Burgess took out the 2022 Par NZ Golfing Holidays BULA Reunion at the Denarau Championship golf course last week by one point.

In second spot with 438 points were partners Peter Lee/Lucinda Knight (Rosanna, Australia) one point ahead of John/Joanne Burt from Te Puke (NZ).

Denise Davies/Anne-Marie Clare (Ngahinepo­uri) were on fourth spot with 435 combined points, five ahead of Jane Williams (Masterton, NZ)/Christine Randall (Denmark, AUS).

Tournament director Danny Langdon said, “62 pairs set out early last week for a four rounds at Denarau playing a combined modified stabl­eford points system.”

“One third of the field in this special reunion tournament was from Australia, two local Fiji­ans and the rest Kiwis. Partners and support­ers made for a 130 plus strong evening. We are grateful to the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Re­sort, Tappoo, and Pure Fiji for their support in hosting the event.”

She added that enquiries for next year’s tour­nament have begun.

Other notable finishers were Nigel Fannin/Ro­sie O’Brien (Fairview, NZ) 429.

Diane Clark/Rachel Saunders (Greenacres, NZ) 423,

Sherrill Jeeves (Sherwood Park, NZ)/Chris Mackenzie (Matamata) 422 with 10th place awarded to Carbrook (Aus) members Gail Hayes/ Irene Greer, 420.
