Lewageena sets new zone record

Ratu Sukuna Memorial School’s Loata Bau Lewageena set a new senior girls’ discus record with a throw of 39.85 metres, surpassing the previous 2023 mark of 32.65m.

Loata Bau Lewageena set a new record in the senior girl's discus throw.

The Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) threw a distance of 39.85 metres; the previous record was 32.65m set by Reapi V of RSMS in 2023.

Lewageena said she was excited to break the senior girl's discus record.

I would like to thank the Lord for His guidance, protection, and for being my source of strength and endurance she said.

She added that her preparation for yesterday competition had not been ideal due to the challenges she faced, but she still managed to come out on top.

“My preparation was very short, and there were a lot of obstacles throughout my training,” she said.

Lewageena acknowledged the support she received from her family, friends, and school.

“I dedicate this win to my family and to the RSMS cheering squad for their support,” she said.

She also said that there are key areas she hopes to improve before the Fiji Finals.

Lewageena hails from Emuri, Nadroga, with maternal links to Doi, Ono-I-Lau.
