Nationals next for Holy Family U15

For the first time, the Holy Family Secondary School (HFSS) Under-15 rugby side won the Northern One Secondary Schools Rugby Zone compe­tition.

HFSS beat Bua College 12-8 in the zone's Ul5 final.

School principal Tima Liwaliwa was emotional when she collect­ed the trophy at All Saints Sec­ondary School ground in Labasa, last Saturday.

Liwaliwa said at the beginning of the second school term, 25 players gathered for their train­ing session, led by a group of teachers.

"It took so much effort, time and energy to prepare a team to par­ticipate in a sports event," she said.

"The only thing the team had in their mind was to make the school proud by first winning the sub Macuata Zone and then the Northern Zone One."'

The school has produced rugby players like former Fijian 7s winger Sikeli Vuruma and Roost­er Chicken Fijiana Drua winger Vitalina Naikore who was one of the stars in the Super W win.

In football, HFSS has produced top players like Ivor Evans, Mel­ton Simmons, Taniela Tuilevuka, Jope Lomu, Solomone Seruiratu, Anare Ropate, Usenio Logaivau and the list goes on.

Liwaliwa thanked the players who are in Years Nine and 10 for their dedication along with their parents, guardians and teachers for their tireless support.

"Now we will be preparing to play against the third team from the Eastern Zone for a spot in the national quarterfinals.

"We are indeed going for a win and nothing less," she added.
