'Need to Cut Down Mistakes': Says Namosi Coach

Namosi rugby head coach Maxwell Hughes is hopeful that his side would force their way into the top six spot of the Skipper Cup points’ standings.

“The momentum is there for us after our win against Ba, but we need to keep striving for it until we get to the quarterfinals,” he said.

“At the momentum we’re on the eighth position and hopefully with a win this week will move us closer to six or seven.”

Hughes said his side had good preparations for their match against Yasawa this weekend.

“We need minimise our mistakes from last week and we need to stick to the game plan for this week,” he said.

“I’m glad that the players utilised every opportunity that came their way to convert points against Ba last week.”

Hughes said they are looking for a win against Yasawa on their home ground.

“We hope to keep building up that winning momentum,” he said.

“The team’s unity will be the motivation for us to win against Yasawa.”

Hughes said he is proud of their fans’ support in their Skipper Cup campaign.

“We’re always proud of our families, friends and chief as we’re always proud to play for the vanua,” he said.

“Hopefully, our fans can get there to Yasawa but we know they’ll be there with us in heart and spirit.”

Yasawa Marlins will host Namosi at Nacula ground, at 3pm this Saturday.
