St John’s College Cawaci recorded a stellar day two performance to claim the Ovalau zone in Cawaci yesterday.
Cawaci won the girls division with 31 gold, 15 silver and 18 bronze medals.
Levuka Public School finished in second place with 15 gold, 20 silvers and nine bronze medals while Gau Secondary School finished in third place with 12 gold, 11 silvers and seven bronze medals.
The school also won the overall boys division with 30 gold, 24 silvers and 22 bronze medals.
Levuka Public was again in second place with 13 gold, nine silvers and five bronze medals, while Gau Secondary School finished in third with four gold, 12 silvers and seven bronze medals.
Zone technical director Iliesa Daveivalu said; “It was an exciting two days of competition.
“We started the programme on time and had a successful finish, with a brilliant double win for Cawaci.”
Daveivalu thanked parents and supporters for coming out in numbers for the zone meet.
He also congratulated the athletes and participating schools for contributing to the success of the meet.
“With the inclusion of Gau Secondary School this year, it has lifted the standard of our competition,” Daveivalu added.
“The meet has also become hotly contested now, which a good sign in terms of the sports’ development.”
