It will be a do-or-die for the Vatukoula women’s rugby team when they host Northland tomorrow in their Royal Tea Ranadi Cup quarterfinal at Garvey Park in Tavua.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Vatukoula women’s head coach John Kamoe said they want to continue with their dominant performance after they topped the points table
“However, we understand that Northland will not be easy to beat as all teams have been preparing well for the quarterfinals,” he said.

Vatukoula was in the same pool with Tavua, Ra and Nanukuloa.
“We’re glad to make it to the top eight this year because we did not reach the quarterfinals last year,” Kamoe said.
“It’s all about learning the basics right with this team; our preparations have been on track.

Kamoe added that his players are selected based on their performance during training.
He is adamant that some of his players would be selected for the women’s high performance unit programme and hopefully for the Fiji Drua women’s side given their performance this season.
These players include captain, Vulori Veibau, Mereilisoni Nasau and Akeneta Nabalarua.
“Fijian Drua’a Ilisapeci Delaiwau started her rugby career in Vatukoula before she joined Nadi. She used to play netball before she was introduced to rugby. I’m certain there are other players here that will follow suit.”
Other Ranadi Cup quarterfinal matches will see Kadavu take on Tavua at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, Macuata will host Rewa at Subrail Park followed by Cakaudrove taking on Ba.
