Maestro Waisale Serevi has rated the 43rd Fiji Bitter Marist 7s as one of the well-organised tournaments in the country.

Serevi who is the current head coach for the Russian 7s side was overwhelmed with the efforts put in by members of the Marist Rugby Club in hosting the tournament.

“I want to thank the Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikaram, all the executives and volunteers of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s,” he said.

“It’s amazing seeing that the spectators are being provided with tents especially in such rainy weather like this where they get to sit and watch the matches comfortably.

“I want to also acknowledge what the Marist Rugby Club has been doing for the past 43 years in trying to create a platform to promote and develop grassroots rugby.

“It’s really overwhelming to see teams from the interior and those as far as from Lakeba in Lau coming to compete at this tournament.

“Also, this tournament have included the under-20 and women’s competition as well which is a great way to develop these players who could make it to the national team.

“This really shows the level of engagement, experience and popularity this tournament has created over the years.”
