Badminton Fiji today (Saturday) hold their 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Suva’s Tanoa Plaza Hotel.

Badminton Fiji secretary Abel Caine indicated yesterday that a new committee would be elected at the AGM.

“The primary agenda is to elect the new executive committee and honorary auditor,” he said.

“Seven (7) highly qualified professionals were nominated who have many years of global and Fiji work experience and sports experience. Even one committee member has won three gold med-als at three Pacific Games.”

Caine said nominations for the seven positions were received before the deadline on January 10.

“The elections will be conducted to gain the full support of approximately 30 valid members of the association,” he said.

He said CEOs representatives from the Badminton Oceania Confederation, FASANOC, Fiji National Sports Commission and Fiji Sports Council would be present at the AGM.

“The Fiji Paralympic Committee, Fiji University Games Association, and key Fijian Sports Organisations are confirmed to attend,” he said.

Caine indicated that AGM would include discussion on the seven-year strategic plan for Badminton Fiji and the draft for 2026 calendar of events.

“We have a very exciting draft. The 2026 calendar of events is laser focused on expanding he game outside of Yat Sen School and outside of Suva, especially to other races,” he said.
