The Kaunikuila Islanders captain Osea Tuamoto is confident of their chances of winning the Vodafone Cup’s National Basketball Club Championship (NBCC) at Suva’s National Gymnasium.

Tuamoto made the comment following their 47-15 win over Blaze yesterday.

“Our main goal for this year is to reach the final and ultimately to win the Vodafone Cup,” he told SUNsports.

Tuamoto said the team is looking forward to their next game.

He said despite losing their first pool game against defending champions Boston, they managed to win their second game.

“We lost to Boston and it was a big motivation for us as we bounced back to secure a win.”

Tuamoto said they changed their mindset and kept their focus.

“Blaze is a talented team and they really tested us.

“Luckily most of our players are experienced and have been playing basketball all throughout these years.

“They’ve already represented Fiji in basketball,” he said.

Tuamoto said experience kept them alive as they managed to pull through and win their second game.

“One of the areas we need to improve is our set piece and our attack before we move on to the next challenge,” he said.
