Preparations for the annual Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl are progressing steadily, with the Fiji Police rugby team balancing their training commitments along with their ongoing operational duties.
This was confirmed yesterday by the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aporosa Lutunauga.
He confirmed that the Police rugby players are currently engaged in operations based around Sigatoka.
Lutunauga said the Police rugby team for the Ratu Sukuna Bowl is coached by Solomone Nute.
“The team has not been selected as we’ve just completed the Ravonu Trophy, which was the final challenge match for selection,” he said.
“We also wrapped up our round-robin Commissioner’s Cup, so now our focus is shifting back to our operational responsibilities, particularly in areas of drug operations and other community demands.” Lutunauga added that while the Ratu Sukuna Bowl, is scheduled for November, it remains a key event on their calendar.
“The Police team’s immediate attention is on our upcoming match against the Fiji Corrections Service for the ANC Trophy on October 31. We’ll tackle that game first before turning our full attention to the Sukuna Bowl,” he said.
