Schools in the Western, Central, Eastern divisions remain closed

Schools in the Western, Central and Eastern divisions will remain closed tomorrow, due to ongoing bad weather, says the Ministry of Education.
These schools are expected to resume classes on Monday, subject to further assessments and official confirmation from the Ministry.
Schools in the Northern Division will remain open.

The decision follows reports from all divisions and consultations with the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO).
More than 1,000 people are currently in evacuation centres, some of which are schools.
Flooded roads and unsafe crossings have also made travel dangerous for students.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro urged parents and guardians to keep students at home and ensure they do not attempt to cross flooded areas under any circumstances.
Schools in affected divisions are expected to reopen on Monday, subject to further assessments and official confirmation.
Tertiary institutions are encouraged to make their own arrangements, including online learning where possible.
The Ministry says it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
