Sports stars lead SVC as 2026 head prefects

Two Fiji national sports representatives are stepping into top student leadership roles, shaping school leadership through sport.
The national representatives Brieanna Rabakewa and Vivaan Patel have been appointed head girl and head boy of Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) in Nadi.
Brieanna, a Year 13 student and Fiji’s discus bronze medallist at the 2023 Pacific Games, said the appointment was the result of years of discipline and faith.

“As an athlete, I have learned what it means to fall and rise again, to push beyond limits, and to stay disciplined even when no one is watching,” she said.
Quoting James 4:10 — “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you,” Brieanna said she was grateful for the opportunity to serve.
“Being elected head girl fills my heart with gratitude and pride. This moment is not just an achievement; it is the result of a journey filled with challenges, growth, and determination during my five years at SVC and through God’s guidance,” she said.
“Sport has taught me resilience, teamwork, and perseverance. Success is not always about winning, but about the effort and heart you put into everything you do. Being head girl is not just a title; it is a responsibility.”
She will also defend her titles in senior girls' discus at the Coke Games 2026.
Vivaan, originally from Namaka, has represented Fiji in powerlifting championships in 2024 and 2025.
“Being called forward as head boy for 2026 was a moment filled with gratitude and humility,” he said. “Hearing my name announced reflected the dedication and perseverance that shaped my journey.”
He acknowledged the support of his parents, teachers, and the school administration.
“Their belief in my potential inspired me to grow not only academically and in sports, but also as a responsible leader. I look forward to serving the school community with integrity and unity.”
Vivaan’s father, Dickson Patel, was a former head boy of Rakiraki Public High School back in 1991.
