500 youths to attend Suva National Conference
Minister Parveen Bala said the conference would be more Government-focused and would involve other Government ministries to present on their provisions for assistance to youths

The Ministry of Youth and Sports will host more than 500 youths from around the country including Rotuma to a three-day conference next week.
The National Youth and Sports Conference will be held on Tuesday, March 26 to Thursday, March 28 with the theme ‘Empowering Youths to be agents of change and promoting sports for development’.
Minister Parveen Bala said the conference would be more Government-focused and would involve other Government ministries to present on their provisions for assistance to youths.

“A lot of youths are not aware of these provisions, this will be the time when they can at least know the assistance they can get which is provided by Government and from which ministry,” he said.
Some of the topics to be discussed include Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights to Leadership Development, Governance Law and Policy, Tourism and Hospitality, Youth Groups and Development Pathways, Oceans and Fisheries, Social Media and other relevant topics.
Some of the speakers include Chief Justice Anthony Gates, Permanent Secretary for Fisheries Craig Strong, Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission director Ashwin Raj and Commissioner for the Online Safety Act Anne Dunn.
The conference will be at the University of the South Pacific, Laucala Campus.
