Bus driver dies in Rakiraki crash, 33 Injured

A 72-year-old bus driver from Naria, Rakiraki, has died following an early morning accident at Nokonoko, along the Kings Road in Rakiraki yesterday.

Police said the incident occurred around 4am yesterday when the driver was transporting 40 church members to a rally in Suva.

At Nokonoko, the bus collided with another bus, causing both vehicles to veer off the road.

Thirty-three passengers sustained injuries and were taken to Rakiraki Hospital for treatment, where the driver later passed away.

Police investigations into the accident are continuing.
