Women have played an active role in preparation for the Macuata Provincial Council Meeting, which officially opens tomorrow at Nabouono Village in Udu.

According to Losalini Leweniqila, the involvement of women marks a positive step toward ensuring their voices are included in local decision-making.

She said the meeting was expected to bring meaningful changes to the lives of women and their communities, especially in this remote part of Fiji.

“Women have been part of the preparations from last year,” Ms Leweniqila said.

“This meeting is not just about development plans also about improving livelihoods and empowering communities.”

The two-day meeting will address key issues affecting the province, including community development, access to resources, and initiatives aimed at improving rural livelihoods.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is expected to open the meeting.
