Man dies in Mokani accident

A man in his 20s is believed to be the country’s latest road fatality following a motor vehicle accident in Mokani on the morning of April 3, 2026.

Police said the victim allegedly staggered onto the road and was struck by a vehicle driven by another man in his 20s.

Initial reports indicate the driver was attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle that had veered into his lane when the incident occurred.

The victim was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations are continuing.

The national road death toll now stands at 13, compared with nine for the same period last year.
