Police classify Vakarisi death as murder after top security meeting
Meeting held involving PM, security chiefs, and military leadership in Suva

Fiji's National Security Council (NSC) met this morning at the Ministry of Policing headquarters at Ra Marama House in Suva.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua, Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua, Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, and Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu were in attendance.
While the details of the meeting are unclear, it is believed the meeting was held following the events that unfolded within the RFMF.

Following the meeting, Police have issued a statement classifying the death of Jone Vakarisi as murder.
"Investigators are in the process of gathering information to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the victim's death," Police said in a statement.
Both the Commander and Police Commissioner are reaffirming their commitment for a thorough investigation.
The heads of the two institutions are pleading with the public to allow the investigative process to run its course.
