RFMF to conduct three-week military exercise in Western Division

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) will conduct a training exercise across parts of the Western Division from Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 28, and is advising the public not to be alarmed by increased military activity.

In a public notice, the RFMF said the exercise, Exercise Bougainville 2026, will take place in the vicinity of Nadi and Lautoka, including surrounding interior areas.

The exercise will involve the movement of military personnel and vehicles, as well as the use of blank ammunition and pyrotechnics for battle noise simulation.

The RFMF has advised residents and motorists in the affected areas not to be alarmed by military movements or simulated battle sounds during the exercise.

It has also urged members of the public to exercise caution throughout the training period.

The RFMF said the necessary planning and safety measures had been put in place to minimise risks to the public and ensure the exercise was conducted safely and professionally.

The force also thanked members of the public for their understanding, cooperation and continued support during the exercise.
