Devo Babaas stay on track
Defending champions Devo Babaas began their Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s campaign strongly with a dominant 19–0 victory over Newtown Brothers Rugby Sevens Team at King Charles Park.

Defending Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s tournament champions Devo Babaas started their campaign on a high note at King Charles Park, Nadi, yesterday.
Devo Babaas started their campaign with a 19-0 win over New-town Brothers.
Led by captain Etuate Qalibau, Babas controlled the game from start, showing the form that car-ried them to win last year’s title.

Babaas had experienced players like Mesake Nasalo, Ryan Cagilaba and Iliesa Lulu.
Other formidable teams in the competition include Loloma Heights, Ravuka Sharks, Police Blues, Wardens Gold and Army Red.
Loloma Heights men’s captain Etuate Nagalu said they are using the tournament to prepare for the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.
“This team is from Savusavu and we are happy to be part of the tournament and our focus is on the Marist sevens,” Nagalu said.
Tournament spokesperson Jeff Tamata said the event has attracted 100 teams, including 56 senior men’s teams, 36 U20 teams and 12 women’s teams.
“A total of 148 games were scheduled for Day One, with the men’s pool matches completed along with the first round of the men’s Cup elimination,” he said.
Fans filled the stands over the two-day tournament, creating a lively atmosphere as teams battled under the sun.
The competition continues today.
