Kadavu rugby fullback Savenaca Durusolo’s performances in the Vodafone Vanua Championship last year have earned him a place in the Sportsworld Fiji Under-20 squad for the international series in South Africa.

Durusolo played a key role in helping Kadavu qualify for the Skipper Cup this season after the side defeated Navosa 23-17 in last year’s final during their inaugural campaign.

“I’ve seen a huge difference even though it’s the U20 system, it’s another level which I need to adjust to,” Durusolo said.

The young player said the past year had been emotional following the loss of his father.

“It’s been a year since my father passed away, he was my biggest supporter and my inspiration for rugby.”

Durusolo recalled his father’s advice to remain disciplined, respectful and maintain a close relationship with God.

“I don’t want to lose hope and will keep doing my best as most of my brothers are really talented,” he said.

“I’ll try my best to improve on my weaknesses during our preparation.”

He said the team would need to stay focused on its game plan against Georgia, South Africa and Chile.

“We need to play our best – no room for bad sportsmanship,” he said.
