Southern Zone Weet-Bix Raluve Under-18 champions Lomary Secondary School is determined to maintain their winning form when they face Bua Central College in the national quarterfinals at Suva’s National Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, LSS principal Joshua Tawake said preparations had remained consistent since the Southern Zone competition, with the team fully focused on the challenge ahead.

“Our preparations have stayed on track right from our first Southern Zone pool match, and we’re looking forward to facing Bua Central,” Tawake said.

“We respect Bua because they are a quality side, and we won’t underestimate them. We will treat every match as final because the national quarterfinals will be a different challenge.”

Despite qualifying for the national playoffs, Tawake said the team had identified areas that needed improvement.

“The girls have worked hard this week to correct the mistakes from the Southern Zone competition,” he said.

“Our coaches have done an excellent job focusing on discipline, fitness, body position, passing, ruck efficiency, clean-outs, scrums, attacking patterns and line-outs. Those are the key areas we have worked on ahead of the quarter-final.”

He expects a tough contest but is confident the team is ready.

“The girls are prepared for the challenge,” Tawake said.

He also called on Lomary supporters to get behind the team.

“We invite our families, friends and old scholars to come out in numbers and support the girls as they aim to reach another national semi-final,” he said.
