The Lomary Secondary School girls under 18 team kicked off their Raluve rugby campaign with a dominant performance thumping Nuku Secondary School 64 - 8 at Thompson Park in Navua last Saturday.
Head coach Samu Gucake was pleased with his team’s performance despite fielding in a group of young players.
“It’s the first round and a lot of these girls are playing rugby for the first time,” Gucake said.
“Majority of the girls are aged 17, 16 and a few are 18.”
Gucake revealed that the youngest player in their team is 14-years-old.
“We are looking at developing them for the future,” he said.
“It’s a girls’ team and they are new to rugby.”
The Lomary girls U18 team are hoping to win all their matches.
“We are taking it a step at a time,” Gucake said.
“Most of all, we are targeting to give our best in every game irrespective of the results.”
