Nadi U20 keep title defence on track

McDonald’s Nadi U20 kept their Skipper Cup title defence on track with a convincing 29–11 victory over Lautoka at Churchill Park Ground 3 last Saturday.
The defending champions have made a strong start to their campaign with back-to-back wins and will now turn their attention to another tough challenge against Suva.
Captain Thomas Lawelua praised his teammates for the victory despite admitting their preparation had fallen short during the week.
“We didn’t prepare as well as we should have, but there are no excuses. We came here to do the job, and we did it,” Lawelua said.
Meanwhile, the McDonald’s Nadi Women’s side opened their Subrails Marama Cup Championship campaign with a dominant 89–12 win over Khelvin Civil Engineering Lautoka Maroons Women.
Captain Laisa Seru said the team had worked on its weaknesses, particularly defence, following their first match.
“We went back to work on our weaknesses, especially our defence, after our first game. We are very grateful for the win,” Seru said.
Both Nadi sides will travel to Suva this weekend, with the U20s looking to maintain their winning start and the women aiming to build on their emphatic victory.
