A driver injured in a head-on collision with a cane truck in Labasa has been discharged from hospital as police continue investigating the crash and a separate suspected hit-and-run death in Savusavu.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wame Bautolu said the 30-year-old man was injured after his vehicle collided head-on with a cane truck at Tabia after 6pm.
The driver was admitted to Labasa Hospital but has since been discharged.

Sergeant Bautolu said investigations into the accident were continuing.
In a separate case, police are continuing investigations into the death of a 54-year-old farmer from Vakativa Village in Savusavu.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the case was being treated as an alleged hit-and-run incident.
The victim was found lying motionless on the side of the road on the morning of July 5, 2026, with visible injuries.
Ms Naisoro said no arrests had been made and the final classification of the death would depend on the post-mortem examination results.
Police have again urged motorists to prioritise road safety, reminding the public that every decision made on the road can have serious consequences.
They warned that failing to follow road rules increases the risk of accidents and the loss of life.
