Denarau Breaches Waste Management Regulations

Denarau Corporation Limited has been issued a prohibition notice for breaching the Environment Management Act 2005 and the Environment Management (Waste Disposal and Recycling) Regulations 2007.

An inspection carried out by an officer from the Department of Environment on March 28, 2023, found that the Corporation was illegally discharging untreated wastewater into a stream on Denarau island.

A copy of the prohibition notice, signed by the Director of Environment, Sandeep Singh, was obtained by the Fiji Sun.
