The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has completed its initial investigations into five allegations raised in the Commission of Inquiry report.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu confirmed that the files are now with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), pending legal advice.

He said one file had been returned from the ODPP for further tasking.

“Three cases are pending investigation, and one case has been filed following ODPP advice,” Mr Tudravu said.

A total of 10 allegations are being investigated by the CID.

The Commission of Inquiry was established to investigate the appointment process of former FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali, and concluded that her appointment was unlawful.
