Lelean Memorial School (LMS) Under-18 captain Luke Daunitutu will not touch the Vodafone Super Deans Trophy until his side wins it.

During yesterday’s photo session at Suva’s Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Daunitutu politely refused to touch the trophy when asked to hold it ahead of tonight’s grand final against Suva Grammar School (SGS).

Asked why, Daunitutu said he would only touch the trophy after they win the final — a tradition among Eastern Zone schools.

“We’ve gave our best during our preparations and now it’s all about playing to our game plan,” he said.

SGS captain Waisele Bolakoro said his players were looking forward to the showdown and had spent the week concentrating on improving their own performance.

“We’ve been focusing on ourselves this week to become better at what we can do,” he added.

The Vodafone Super Deans Under-18 grand final kicks off at 6.10pm.
