The Nadi rugby team's preparations for Saturday's Skipper Cup semi-final clash received a major boost yesterday.

This was after two former players who are playing club rugby in France came forward to assist the team. Also, there were assistance received from group supporters based in the United States and United Kingdom.

Former Flying Fijians and now Toulon's Top 14 utility back Setareki Tuicuvu provided the Nadi teams (Under-20 and Senior men's) with straps.

Then Jekove Sovau who plays for Dax in the French ProD2 paid for the Nadi teams' billeting. Nadi Rugby Union (NRU) vice-president Jeff Tamata confirmed yesterday that they have received funds from Cevu Nadi groups based in the US and UK chapters led by the evergreen Liviana Qoro.

This overseas fan base is made-up of former Nadi residence and has been very instrumental in assisting NRU.

Tamata said the assistance is for the two teams that are preparing for the much-anticipated Skipper Cup semifinals.

"We are ever grateful to the players and the Cevu Nadi chapters for their assistance. This is not new as when Nadi reached such stage these assistances boost the team, as together we can achieve the objective."

They face Tide Tribe Malolo in the semifinal. During the round robin stage, Malolo had thrashed Nadi 52-27 and should come into the semifinal as favourites.
