A man charged with the alleged murder of his de facto partner has refused to undergo a DNA swab test, the court heard this morning.

Taione Senikaucava appeared before Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad facing a single count of murder.

Senikaucava is alleged to have murdered his wife following a heated argument in Veisari, Lami, on Saturday, December 6, before driving her body to the Totogo Police Station.

Police Prosecutor Inspector Jone Tupua applied for court orders to have the accused submit to a DNA test for investigation purposes, saying the request came from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The court noted the accused’s refusal and accepted it.

Inspector Tupua was advised to ensure the police file is properly prepared before it is forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

As there are currently no available High Court dates, the matter was adjourned to December 31 for mention.
